Year 2 Giving Change Worksheets
Read a price and an amount paid, then find the change. The first-page preview uses prices and payments in pence, making it useful for discussing the subtraction represented by each purchase.
3 A4 worksheet pages · 1 separate answer page
Preview and print worksheetA free account lets you preview every page and print worksheets and answers. You receive five clean outputs per London calendar month, then can continue with watermarked outputs. Worksheet and answer sheet count as two outputs when both are issued.
Model it before pupils practise
Use Money & Change to model paying 20p for an item costing 12p. Count up from 12p to 20p, or compare with 20 - 12 = 8. Check that the price and 8p change add to the amount paid.
What to listen for
Change is the difference between the amount paid and the price, not the sum of the two. Keep the units consistent when recording a calculation in pence.
Take it further
Ask pupils to make the same amount of change with different combinations of coins. How can they check that each combination has the correct value?
